SUB-ACUTE TOXICITY STUDY OF PEGAGAN EMBUN (HYDROCOTYLE SIBTHORPIOIDES LAM.) EXTRACT ON THE SGPT AND SGOT LEVEL OF WISTAR WHITE MALE RATS

Objective: Pegagan embun (Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides Lam.) is one of the herbs used in ethnomedicines as an immunostimulant during COVID-19 pandemic. This present study aims to discover potential toxicity effect pegagan extract through sub-acute administration on SGPT and SGOT levels Wistar white male rats.
 Methods: Thirty-six test animals were divided into four groups: control group was given Na CMC 0.5%, treatment groups treated with ethanol at doses 7, 35, 150 mg/kgBW. All orally for 14, 21 d once daily. On 8th, 15th, 22nd day, animal level measured. The data analyzed by two-way ANOVA followed Duncan’s multiple range (p<0.05).
 Results: revealed that did not cause any harmful liver but significantly decreased influenced variety duration (p<0.05). Significant reductions are seen after dosages 7 mg/kgBW d.
 Conclusion: showed relatively non-toxic safe be immunostimulant. There no sign damage rats based SGPT.
